Acute calcific tendinitis of the longus colli is an unusual cause of acute neck pain and stiffness. Acute calcific tendinitis is a relatively benign inflammatory condition that can clinically mimic more serious entities such as retropharyngeal abscess, spondylodiscitis, or spine trauma.
